Chyron
Chyron continues to open up its character generator technology to accommodate a wide range of uses. The latest example of this is a new laptop CG system called Solo. The system was developed for Fox Sports, which has now outfitted about 25 trucks with the portable graphics generator for its “Fox Box” on-screen electronic score board.
Chyron's Solo consists of a PCMCIA PCI CG/squeezeback card combined in a separate three-pound unit (including laptop running Windows) and allows an operator to create CG messages plus real-time and flipbook animations.

The squeezeback capabilities include two video inputs and a background, for the creation of program promos, bumpers and opens.
Chyron also showed CAMIO (Chyron Asset Management and Inter-Operability), a new system that delivers high-quality graphics to centralized “hub-and-spoke” architectures that can be control via the Web or an automation system. Station group Liberty Broadcasting has ordered several systems for their central-casting model.
The Probel division introduced several new router lines. It features a new Sirius 256x256 router, for example, with mix-and-match format capability.
