Chyron and BIM partner on user supplied sports video
Chyron is integrating its WAPSTR Mobile Video Suite with Broadcast Interactive Media’s (BIM) YouNewsTV platform to create a viewer-supplied video service for television stations.
BMI, based in Madison, WI, is the provider of locally focused web solutions for television and radio broadcasters. The technology partnership between BMI and Chyron is designed to link online still and video news and sports content to television stations for instant seamless on-air use.
The companies said integration of WAPSTR and the YouNewsTV platform will shortly enter beta test at a number of client sites over the next few months.
Bill Hendler, Chyron’s chief technology officer, said cell phone cameras have become a vital tool for citizen journalism, and that web-based content sharing communities have emerged as the most important new media market. The combination of WAPSTR and YouNewsTV will offer broadcasters an opportunity to integrate web-based user content into their existing on-air workflow.
Since its launch in May, YouNewsTV is now live in more than 40 U.S. television markets. Some stations are airing user-generated video daily through the use of YouNewsTV and are currently moving materials manually from website to playout. The combination of WAPSTR and YouNewsTV is designed to integrate YouNewsTV directly with newsroom broadcast systems so it can go on-air automatically.
