Chyron Graphics System Selected for WPTV HD Conversion
WPTV, the NBC affiliate in West Palm Beach, Fla. has installed two Chyron HyperX2 on-air graphics systems as part of the station’s conversion to high-definition operations.
The station presented its first-ever high-definition newscast this past August, and is using the Chyron equipment for lower thirds, over-the-shoulder and full screen graphics presentation.
“This has been an exciting time for WPTV,” said Brian Lawlor, vice president and general manager of WPTV. “We managed to keep the HD launch completely under wraps, testing the workflow over a number of months. The Chyron systems were chosen because they allow our artists and editors to push the boundaries in graphics creation and playout.”
A dual-channel HyperX2 graphics system was installed in one of WPTV’s control rooms and a single-channel version is being used in the station’s other control room.
