Chyron launches WAPSTR for mobile phone newsgathering
At IBC2006, Chyron unveiled WAPSTR, which allows anyone with a mobile phone to become a “breaking news” gatherer.
Chyron’s WAPSTR software application, running in conjunction with Chyron’s CAMIO asset management and MOS newsroom computer systems, such as iNews, ENPS and Dalet, allows fast, easy ingest of stills and video footage into the newsroom workflow from public cell phones. This content is then immediately available for transmission to air, the Web and mobile platforms.
Deployment of WAPSTR by local and national broadcasters has the potential to build viewer loyalty, involvement and ratings. A recent industry survey showed that 44 percent of the public already used their mobile phones as their primary cameras; video will likely be the next landmark in mobile usage.
