Chyron serves up MicroClyps at IBC

At IBC Chyron unveiled MicroClyps, an HD/SD switchable graphics server that offers instantaneous clip recall and playout for live production applications. The MicroClyps can be configured as either HD or SD, each with synchronized audio, video and key outputs and a built-in keyer for compositing clips on program video.

The server uses wavelet compression technology and selectable compression ratios to provide high-capacity storage and reliable playout of channel branding, promos, snipes and bumpers.

Video and audio can be automatically ingested using a folder watch capability, supporting a variety of sources including QuickTime files with alpha and audio, still images and graphic file sequences. In addition, stills and image sequences can be manually ingested, or live video can be recorded directly on the channel. There’s even a video for Windows codec available.

More than five hours of HD and 15 hours of SD online compressed video/key content can be stored on the system. All clips and audio used on the MicroClyps systems are fully interoperable with XClyps Compressed HD/SD clip server. Using the remote monitor and control and asset management features, broadcasters can even remotely control and transfer assets between MicroClyps and XClyps systems.

The system can be controlled manually through the GUI or ClypBoard shot box or remotely from a switcher, automation system or shot box via a variety of automation protocols. Clyps2GO is an optional set of Media Drive and durable carry case so that clip content can be transported and installed into any MicroClyps machine.
