CinemaNow to Provide Titles to HDNet
CinemaNow, a VOD broadband provider, has signed an agreement with HDNet to make several titles from HDNet's original library available on a download-to-own basis. The downloads will take place via the CinemaNow Web site. The arrangement will mark the first time HDNet has made its HD library available for VOD on an online broadband service.
HDNet president and founder Mark Cuban claims his channel features more original HD content than any other service. He said that working with CinemaNow in the broadband realm will enable HDNet to reach a greater audience for its original series.
Among the original content being made available are more than a hundred episodes from HDNet, including "Across America," "Get Out!" and several other HDNet specials. As part of the agreement, users of CinemaNow will be able to download permanent copies of HDNet programming for unlimited playback (albeit, limited to the device upon which it is downloaded). The content will be available in Windows Media Video HD.
