Comcast agrees to carry ESPN HD channel
Comcast Cable, the country's largest broadband and cable communications provider in 17 of the 20 largest metropolitan areas, has reached an agreement with ESPN for the distribution of ESPN HD.
Beginning this month, Comcast will add the all-sports HDTV channel to current HD programming line-up of local broadcasters, PBS stations, HBO and Showtime as well as Comcast SportsNet in Philadelphia and Washington, D.C.-Baltimore. In markets where Comcast offers local ABC affiliates' HD signals, viewers will be able to watch Monday Night Football telecasts in HD, as well as NFL Sunday Night Football coverage on ESPN HD.
