Comcast has launched HDTV On Demand in the Washington, D.C. metro region, which includes the surrounding Va. and Md. suburbs.
Philadelphia-based Comcast serves nearly one million households in the D.C. metro region and has invested $600 million to upgrade more than 9,000 miles of fiber-optic cable. The On Demand service is added to the 18 HDTV channels that Comcast currently offers.
Viewers with an HD television and HD-capable Comcast digital set-top box can expect to pay between $3.99 and $5.99 for a movie and have 24 hours to watch it as many times as they like. The On Demand collection includes 1,800 movies and programs from news, entertainment and sports.
