Comcast Networks to Standardize on Sony XDCAM Technology
Comcast Networks has said it will be standardizing on Sony XDCAM optical technology, using the HD version of the system, including the new XDCAM HD422 system, Sony announced at the NAB Show.
The Golf Channel, Versus, E! Entertainment Television, and Comcast SportsNet facilities in San Francisco, Philadelphia, Chicago and the Washington, D.C., area will be implementing XDCAM-based workflows, according to the network.
Sony also announced it had delivered more than 31,000 units of XDCAM technology since the system’s introduction in 2004, including the standard- and high-definition versions. A combination of SD and HD XDCAM technology is in use by CNN, CBS, PBS, WNBC (New York), and ABC will be standardizing on the XDCAM platform.
