Cox Adds NBC Primetime to HD VOD
While major cablers like Comcast, Time Warner Cable and Cox Communications have been attempting to add more broadcast network primetime fare to their HD VOD menus within 24 hours' after their first-run airings, network choices have been somewhat limited. (In Comcast's case, at least until recently, mostly CBS shows were being offered via HD VOD, as far as broadcast or cable content.)
Cox is trying to overcome the shortage by this week adding several NBC shows to its VOD and HD VOD menu — including recent episodes of "30 Rock," "The Office," "Heroes" and "Saturday night Live," and "Parks and Recreation." Cox also recently added several ABC/Disney shows to its HD VOD venue, such as "Castle" and "Modern Family."
The HD on-demand content is nearly always offered by Cox and other cablers at no extra cost. Cable VOD viewings (HD and SD) typically include very little, if any, commercial insertions.
