Cox to Access HD via SES Triple-Feed Antenna Program
SES Americom said this week it's adding Cox Communications and CableOne to its cable clientele for using its triple-feed antenna program. SES's service enables operators to access HD content through the company's brand name "HD-Prime" service, which is also being used by Comcast, Brighthouse Networks, RCN and independent operators.
The triple-feed program provides cable operators with free satellite antennas (and related equipment) at each headend for reception of programming fed from three SES satellites. The HD-Prime satellites deliver programming to cable throughout the continental U.S., Alaska and Hawaii, according to Yahoo Finance.
The triple-feed antennas are made by Patriot Antenna Systems, which creates satellite reflectors from stretch-formed aluminum in 3.8-, 4.5- and 5-meter sizes. SES operates a total of five HD-dedicated satellites in its "neighborhood" in space.
