A federal appeals court in New York has approved the live broadcast of oral arguments in a challenge by broadcasters to the FCC’s profanity rulings.
The U.S. Court of Appeals for the Second Circuit gave approval to a request from C-SPAN to televise the arguments now scheduled for Wednesday, Dec. 20. Being a cable service, C-SPAN is immune to the FCC’s censorship rules.
The arguments will focus on the FCC’s ruling last March against Fox for on-air comments made during the Billboard Awards telecast. At the time this was written, C-SPAN said that no other cable or broadcast news operation had requested a pool feed of the arguments.
