Current TV Adds Another Ross Video Synergy Switcher
Current TV recently announced the purchase of a Ross Video Synergy 4 MD-X digital production switcher for use in preparing the network's programming.
Current TV is a national cable and satellite delivered channel, which was founded by Al Gore and Joel Hyatt. The network facility operates without tape and was designed to be HD-ready. The Synergy 4 MD-X directly controls the operation's video servers.
"Current is a new network with a brand new facility" said Danny Skarka, head technical director at Current TV. "When the decision was made to invest in a production switcher, we knew the Synergy 4 MD-X would give us full SD and HD capability and complete control of servers and cameras through the Custom Controls. The switcher is extremely easy to operate, its straightforward and logical."
At Current, the Ross Synergy switcher is being used for everything from large-scale, multistudio productions originating simultaneously in Los Angeles and San Francisco, to simple pod warps. Current's Los Angeles facility also has a Ross Synergy 100 switcher.
