The Czech Republic's Barrandov Studios has ordered HD equipment from Harris for the buildout of its new master control, ingest and central equipment room for its new HD channel.
TV Barrandov will be a nationwide digital television channel and is due to make its debut in January 2009.
The order, announced at IBC2008 in Amsterdam, includes the Harris NEXIO AMP advanced media platform for recording and playout, Platinum router, CENTRIO multiviewers, an IconMaster master control and branding solution, IconStation on-air branding platform, Videotek VTM Series test and measurement devices, and the Inscriber RTX graphics platform and G3 HD/SD-selectable character generator system.
The order also includes a variety of video/audio processing and distribution products. The project is being handled, designed and installed by Elvia-Pro, the company’s dealer in the Czech Republic.
TV Barrandov received its license from the Czech broadcasting council (RRTV) in April 2008. The channel plans a program mix of entertainment, documentaries and international films. TV Barrandov also is expected to have its own in-house production facility for local programming. The new channel will be available via DVB-T, satellite, IPTV and cable platforms.
