DDD, Samsung Sign License for 3-D HD Chip
DDD Group, a 3-D software and content company based in Santa Monica, Calif., has signed an accord with Samsung to supply DDD’s software package (“TriDef 3D Experience”) as part of Samsung’s own branded 3-D accessory pack for its product line of “3-D ready” DLP rear-projection and plasma HD sets.
DDD said its 3-D chip is designed to enable an array of options—from HD 3-D motion pictures to PC games—for use on three dimensional-enabled HD sets.
As part of the licensing agreement, an initial total of about $260,000 will be paid to DDD within the first year, after production of the 3-D accessory pack begins this spring. DDD said further per-unit royalties will be paid to DDD later.
Samsung plans to show some of its ongoing 3-D projects at the NAB Show in April.
