‘Defiance’ Overtakes ‘Taken’ to Lead Blu-ray Top 10
By TVTechnology
published The WWII action drama “Defiance” starring Daniel Craig in a very un-James Bond role took the lead in the Blu-ray Top 10 in sales the first week it was eligible, bumping “Taken” down to the third spot. Another WWII thriller, Tom Cruise’s “Valkyrie,” seems to be fading fast — sliding to no. 8 after only two weeks in disc release.
All-time Blu-ray title seller “The Dark Knight” held its middle ground at no. 7, while a TV series broke into the Top 10, which has been unusual in recent months. When the smoke cleared, “Weeds: Season 4” found itself at no. 5.
The Top 10 Blu-ray title sales for the week ending June 6, according to Rentrak:
- “Defiance” (Paramount)
- “Final Fantasy: VII: Advent Children” (Sony Pictures)
- "Taken" (20th Century Fox)
- “He’s Just Not That Into You” (Warner Bros.)
- “Weeds: Season 4” (Lionsgate)
- “Paul Blart: Mall Cop” (Sony Pictures)
- “The Dark Knight” (Warner Bro.)
- “Valkyrie” (20th Century Fox)
- “Underworld: Rise of the Lycans” (Sony Pictures)
- “Twilight” (Summit)
