DigitalVision 2010 Garners More Than 7,000 Registrants

It provided all the informational opportunities of a regular, real-world trade show: DigitalVision2010, produced by NewBay Media and the NAB Show, attracted more than 7,000 registrants who got a look at current video products, met with technology providers, participated in specialized online chats and mingled in a virtual lounge.

It also served as a preview of April’s NAB Show in a free, virtual environment with easy, intuitive navigation, video demonstrations from exhibitors and a keynote interview with NAB President Gordon Smith.

With no instructions—and using any Web browser—virtual attendees were able to navigate a realistic convention floor, walk from booth to booth, and visit specific companies to meet with reps, check out product demonstrations and download white papers, spec sheets and more.

They were also able to talk among themselves in open chats in the virtual lounge, or strike up private text-based conversations.

And they saved the trip out of town. Participants came from all over the world, from production companies, television stations, government agencies and schools. And, they didn’t have to petition their bosses for travel funds; DigitalVision2010 was free to all attendees.

Like any good trade show, it included discussions—sometimes animated—on specialized topics, including 3D video production, DTV loudness, mobile DTV rollout, broadband video, new cameras (2K, 4K and beyond) and the upcoming Olympic games, hosted by the editors of leading technology magazines and other experts.

Exhibitors included Sony, Clear-Com, Digital Rapids, Ensemble Designs, Harris, Middle Atlantic Products, Miranda Technologies, Multidyne, Omneon, Snell, VCI Solutions, Viewcast, Wohler and more.

And here’s the best part: If you missed anything, or missed the entire thing, you can still register and view the discussions, listen to the keynote, visit company booths, view technical materials and pick up contact information. So the conference continues—register at www.DigitalVision2010.com
