DirecTV Chooses Nvision Switching and Routing Equipment
DirecTV has selected signal routing and switching equipment from Nvision to expand the DBS provider’s high definition capability. DirecTV is now using Nvision’s NV8256 and NV8288 routing systems, along with a number of NV9640/41 control panels.
“Nvision’s proven N-on-1 crosspoint redundancy was a key factor in our selection of Nvision routers for the DirecTV backbone signal transmission,” said Hanno Basse, vice president of engineering, for DirecTV, Inc. “For DirecTV this means confidence in the non-stop delivery of programming to its viewers.”
DirecTV now provides more than 250 channels of digital programming to more than 16.3 subscribers. The DBS provider will soon have capacity installed for more than 150 channels of high-definition programming.
