DIRECTV expands number of local HD channels

published DIRECTV has begun offering local HD channels in four new markets taking its nationwide total where local HD programming is available to subscribers to 76 markets.
Last week, the direct-to-home satellite service provider said it had added Cedar Rapids-Waterloo, IA; Louisville, KY; Paducah, KY; and Wichita, KS, to its lineup of markets. According to the company, DIRECTV now reaches about 76 percent of the U.S. TV market with local HD broadcast channels.
Currently, DIRECTV offers 92 national HD channels as part of its lineup.
