DIRECTV offers HD local channels in four new markets
DIRECTV last week activated HD local channel service in four additional markets. Programming from ABC, CBS, FOX and NBC are now in HD in Greenville, SC, Harrisburg, PA, Jacksonville FL, and Spokane, WA.
With the new additions, DIRECTV now offers local HD broadcast channels in 53 cities, representing more than 67 percent of U.S. TV households. The operator's local HD channel rollout is part of a nationwide expansion that includes plans to offer local HD channels in up to 75 markets and up to 100 national channels by the end of this year.
When DIRECTV's capacity expansion is complete next year, it plans to offer more than 1500 local HD channels and more than 150 national HD channels.
