Discreet, a division of Autodesk, has partnered with Sony to develop interoperability between Sony's new 4:4:4 RGB digital media devices with Discreet's high-end post productions systems.
Compatibility with Discreet's products include Sony's HDCAM-SR videotape recorders and specially formulated BCT-SR videocassettes capable of recording full-resolution RGB digital HD component video.
A variety of high-end post production workflows will benefit from the cross-compatibility between Sony's HDCAM-SR format and Discreet's inferno, fire, flame, and smoke products.

With its new HDC-F950 camera and SRW-5000 videotape recorder, Sony is introducing an entire new range of RGB solutions for video post-production. The SRW-5000 can record and playback the 1920x1080 HDTV formats at 23.98P, 24P, 25P, 29.97P and 30P or 50i, 60i and 59.94i as well as 1280x 720 HDTV format at 59.94P. Another crucial component is Sony's new HDCAM-SR videotape, the BCT-SR series. These cassettes, specially designed to maximize HDCAM-SR recordings, provide approximately +6dB output improvements over HDCAM cassettes that are specially designed to maximize HDCAM-SR recordings.
