DISH Network adds 42 markets for local channels
EchoStar Communications Corporation announced last week that it plans to increase the number of markets receiving local channels over its DISH Network to 106 by the end of this year. Forty-two additional markets were identified in the press release.
In addition to announcing the additional local channels, EchoStar introduced its "SuperDish" 66-centimeter elliptical satellite dish. This antenna is capable of receiving satellites in three different orbital locations and may help reduce complaints from broadcasters that multiple satellite antennas were needed to receive all local programming offered by DISH Network.
A list of the markets where DISH Network will be adding local stations is available in their press release at http://www.corporate-ir.net/ireye/ir_site.zhtml?ticker=dish&script=410&layout=-6&item_id=407981.
