EchoStar has announced that its subscriber count to the Dish Network has passed the 9 million, adding one million subscribers just within the past 10 months. The satellite broadcaster marked its first 1 million subscriber count in 1997
The company says its low subscription price and growing interest in its DVR service may account for the popularity of Dish Network In an effort to compete with new HDTV programming from DirecTV and increasing HD services from cable, EchoStar said it plans to begin offering HD programming this fall.
