Diversified Systems uses Ikegami cameras for NFL scoreboards

Three National Football League teams— the Cincinnati Bengals, Detroit Lions and Philadelphia Eagles — are upgrading this season’s scoreboard video action with new Ikegami cameras.

Ikegami's digital cameras will feed the scoreboards of three NFL stadiums. The Ikegami HL-45 is a digital camera with new-generation ASICs that have facilitated reductions in camera size, weight and power consumption.

Installed by systems integrator Diversified Systems, a total of 12 Ikegami HL-45 3CCD portable digital cameras and three HL-V75W DVCPRO50 camcorders will feed the scoreboard at Cincinnati’s Paul Brown Stadium, Detroit’s Ford Field and Philadelphia’s Lincoln Financial Field.

“These production facilities are mobile units with as much power as the broadcast trucks that pull up to do the show,” said Tom Sullivan, managing engineer for Diversified Systems. “Scoreboard presentations have evolved from being just one camera to a full-blown production that’s integral to the entertainment package.”

The Ikegami HL-45 is a digital camera with new-generation ASICs that have facilitated reductions in camera size, weight and power consumption. High performance is achieved through three IT CCDs that provide 900 (HL-45A) TV lines of resolution, a modulation depth of 75 percent (5MHz), a dynamic range of 600 percent, a S/N ratio of 64dB (NTSC) and a switchable 4:3 or 16:9 aspect ratio (HL-45AW). The HL-V75W DVCPRO50 camcorder combines Ikegami’s digital video technology and a DVCPRO digital recorder.
