Dolby expands production services
Dolby Laboratories has announced the expansion of its consulting services to include more segments of the entertainment industry.
Dolby has traditionally provided the broadcast and motion picture industries with assistance using its technology. The new initiative broadens the services to new areas of digital production and display.
Dolby currently provides broadcasters with quality assurance services, ranging from audio mastering to complete station commissioning for multichannel audio signals. Recently, for example, audio mastering support was provided for 5.1 production of the NFC Football Championship game.
A target of Dolby’s expansion effort will be digital screening rooms, an area where technical standards are still developing.
Dolby's Production Services Group has more than 75 sound and cinema experts available. Of these, 55 work out of Dolby offices in Los Angeles, New York, and Wootton Bassett, England, while the remaining 20 are based in major entertainment cities around the world.
