Dolby Releases Encoding Platform at NAB

published Dolby Laboratories is debuting Dolby Pro Logic II encoding for TV at NAB, which allows networks to broadcast a matrixed, five-channel surround sound signal through an existing analog or digital stereo medium.
The DP563 Dolby Surround Encoder can be upgraded for $400 to include real-time encoding for Dolby Pro Logic II and Dolby Surround Pro Logic. New units come equipped with the upgraded Dolby Pro Logic encoding and will be available for $3,700.
The technology will be on display at Dolby's booth (SU4555).
