Doyle Technology Consultants assist MSNBC.com with digital transition

Doyle Technology Consultants, a consulting, design and system integration company, recently completed the digital transition of MSNBC.com's headquarters located on the main Microsoft campus in Redmond, WA. MSNBC.com provides news coverage including encoded NBC News video delivered with Windows Media Version 9. Doyle Technology Consultants designed and built a state-of-the-art digital system replacing the news organization’s original tape-based analog system, which dates back to 1996.

The main components of the system includes automated satellite ingest using Sundance Digital’s Intelli-Sat system with a custom interface to an Avid Unity for News system with NewsCutter clients. The system is now based on SDI Video and AES Audio core technology switched on a Grass Valley Concerto router. A new satellite ingest/QC area including a 16-channel Miranda Kaleido display was built in the newsroom area that is co-located with the Web site operations staff.
