DPC selects TANDBERG Television for encoding, distribution solutions
DPC is deploying a TANDBERG Television HD video headend with statistical multiplexing and EN5990 HD MPEG-4 AVC encoders.
Digital Playout Centre (DPC) has selected TANDBERG Television’s HD MPEG-4 AVC video encoding and distribution system for its HDTV launch in Germany. Owned by SES Astra, DPC will provide services for Premiere AG when it begins broadcasting HDTV in November.
The Munich-based pay-TV operator will transmit HDTV content on three channels dedicated to sports, film and documentaries via the ASTRA satellite at 19.2 degrees east.
DPC is deploying a TANDBERG Television HD video headend with statistical multiplexing and EN5990 HD MPEG-4 AVC encoders. The use of the company’s HD MPEG-4 AVC encoding systems will enable DPC to achieve efficient HD bandwidth use, more than halving the bit-rate required by MPEG-2.
