Dream TV realizes reliable, scalable playout with Omneon Spectrum server system
Omneon Video Networks has announced that Egypt’s Dream TV is using an Omneon Spectrum media server system for playout of two channels. Installed at the Nilesat earth station adjoining the Media City complex outside Cairo, Egypt, the Spectrum server system allows the privately owned network to broadcast Dream 1 and Dream 2 programming from a shared playout platform.
Dream TV is a private satellite network primarily owned by Egyptian businessman Ahmed Bahgat The network was launched in November 2001 as the country’s first private satellite channel and has its own production and post-production facilities based in Cairo.
Omneon’s server system is built on an open architecture that allows it to support a broad variety of third-party applications for control and transmission, media management, archiving and collaborative production. As a result, stored media can be shared among many users and applications.
