DreamWorks Picks Both Next-Gen Disc Formats
DreamWorks, apparently the last major Hollywood studio to not commit to either the Blu-ray or HD DVD disc format is now planning to release its Academy Award-winning "Dreamgirls" in both formats.
The motion picture will be issued in both these HD disc formats -- as well as in standard DVD -- on May 1, and be distributed by DreamWorks' parent, Paramount Home Entertainment.
As usual, prices will be somewhat higher than for standard discs, with a suggested retail price of about $40 for either format, according to a report in High-Def Digest.
DreamWorks did not disclose whether it plans to also issue more titles in HD disc formats, and may wait to see sales numbers from this first release in May.
