Digital Transaction Group (DTG) recently completed a major upgrade to WTVO’s automation capabilities in Rockford, Ill., adding a second channel to their existing version 9 AIRO Automation System.
DTG, based in Austin, Tex., acquired the AIRO Automation product from Odetics Broadcast last month and said it is moving forward with development plans for further enhancements to the AIRO Automation software as well as customer support. The company acquired the assets of Odetics Broadcast as well as the former engineering and support team from Odetics responsible for the AIRO product line.
Rob Harrison, director of engineering for Young Broadcasting (owner of WTVO-TV), said that with the new automation channel they are now able to multicast on their broadcast signal.
The automation upgrade included enhancements to ingest operations at the station by adding AIRO’s Record Director application and Satellite Control integration with Image Communication’s CompuSat System. The AIRO integrated record scheduling and satellite control automates the scheduling and recording for multiple recurring and one-off satellite feeds, steers the antennas, tunes the receivers, initiates the recording device and creates the AIRO data record for content management.
The AIRO Automation System is a software package that integrates device control, schedule management, content acquisition and archiving.
