DTV set sales higher than ever
October factory-to-dealer shipments of DTV units have set a one-month record. According to figures released by the CEA, 292,856 DTV units were sold, which equals $471,669,338.
This represents a 56 percent increase in unit shipments and a 38 percent increase in sales more than a year ago. These figures also mark 12 percent and 7 percent increases, respectively, in September.
Year-to-date unit sales through October were 1,878,397 on dollar sales of $3.1 billion. DTV units are defined by the CEA as integrated sets (decodes ATSC terrestrial transmissions and displays them) and monitors displaying active vertical scanning lines of at least 480p.
