DVD Down, Blu-ray Sales Up Over Last Year
While overall sales of video discs (DVD and Blu-ray combined) were down nearly 29 percent in the week ending April 19 from the same week a year ago, Blu-ray title sales posted a 15.3 percent jump since last year, with sales of about $10.8 million in North America. Blu-ray has edged up to about a 12 percent share of the overall video-disc market, according to Home Media Research.
Meanwhile, two "Man" titles held onto the middle of the pack—"Yes Man" and "Iron Man"—with the latter title coming back into the Top 10 after dropping out a couple of weeks ago after many weeks on the list.
