EAS Equipment Manufacturers Merge

Monroe Electronics Inc. and Digital Alert Systems say they will merge. DAS becomes a wholly owned subsidiary of Monroe.

Both are providers of emergency alert system products. The outcome of the deal, they say, is to “create a one-stop shop with products to satisfy the EAS requirements of the full range of broadcast and government users.”

The agreement was announced by DAS COO Bruce Robertson and Monroe President William E. Vosteen. They said the deal will let DAS focus on direct sales, marketing and customer service with Monroe handling manufacturing and development.

They stated in the announcement that the two companies already work together, “with Monroe having been the exclusive cable and IPTV marketing licensee for the DASDEC system. Monroe, meanwhile, gains an expanded EAS product portfolio that adds the radio-television broadcast and emergency operations center markets to its potential customer base.”

Digital Alert Systems, based in Oracle, Ariz., was formed in 2003. Monroe Electronics in Lyndonville, N.Y., began operations in 1954 making specialized electrostatic discharge instrumentation. Its EAS systems have found a market among CATV operators; it says the merger “continues the company’s proven formula in the broadcast radio and television markets.”
