EchoStar Communications selects Space Systems/Loral for new satellite

published EchoStar Communications has chosen Space Systems/Loral (SS/L) to build EchoStar XI, a new direct broadcast satellite (DBS) to support its DISH Network and act as a backup for its existing satellite fleet.
In early 2007, the fifth EchoStar satellite to be based on SS/L's 1300 platform is expected to be delivered.
Currently EchoStar Communications serves more than 10.4 million satellite TV customers through its DISH Network. It offers hundreds of video and audio channels, interactive TV, HDTV, sports and international programming.
