Ensemble Designs Helps New Net Promote Non-Profits
Cable network Starfish Television Network is now on the air with a unique mission—to provide 24/7exposure to non-profit organizations.
The Salt Lake City-based operation is itself a nonprofit public charity and was established earlier this year to promote the doings of other nonprofits including the Children’s Miracle Network, Operation Smile and Mothers Without Borders. It airs news, documentaries and other programming about service and giving.
The network operation put out its first signals in April from a digital facility constructed with state-of-the art equipment—a lot of it of supplied by Ensemble Designs.
“Andy Carleton, our new production engineer, selected all of the equipment including the Ensemble Designs Avenue for signal processing,” said Mark Shattuck, VP of production and engineering at the Starfish Television Network. “Knowing the reputation of Ensemble Designs and the caliber of their products, I didn’t think twice about depending on their products.”
Shattuck said that even though Starfish launched operations in standard definition, plans are already underway to go HD.
