Entone Unveils HD MPEG4 Delivery for IPTV
Entone has begun to offer a new product dubbed HD Now, which is designed to provide IPTV service operators with a cost-effective method of deploying HD services in tandem with their existing MPEG-2 IP infrastructure.
Entone, based in San Mateo, Calif., said the new device is a fully integrated HD MPEG-4 scheme that complements existing MPEG2 IPTV headend infrastructures without the need to build out a separate MPEG4 headend. Thus, it said, the product makes it easier and less expensive for operators to offer HD content as an additional revenue-generating service.
HD Now works with Entone’s Hydra IP Video Gateway, which uses HD MPEg4 technology from SES Americom.
