ESPN and MobiTV continue partnership with mobile TV channel
MobiTV, a provider of mobile and broadband entertainment services will support ESPN’s new 24/7 channel for wireless called ESPN Mobile TV. The service offers a choice of live, simulcast sports events; comprehensive and breaking sports news; mobile-exclusive programming; commentary and analysis; and real-time sports scores and game updates.
ESPN Mobile TV offers full-length live events including college football and basketball, NBA, NASCAR, MLS, Arena Football League, Major League Lacrosse as well as entertainment content and popular on-air ESPN shows. There’s even content made specifically for mobile devices, such as “ESPN ReSet,” “ScoreCenter” and “Fantasy Football Now.”
Through the end of January, live events airing on ESPN Mobile TV include: more than 50 hours of coverage from the Australian Open Tennis Championships; live NBA Games; college basketball; more than 10 hours of Winter X Games 12 coverage; and the MLS Draft.
ESPN Mobile TV replaces the sports network’s initial made-for-mobile sports programming channel launched by MobiTV in July 2005. The new channel will be included in the basic programming lineup and will span several of MobiTV’s products, including Sprint TV Xtra (Sprint), MobiTV on AT&T and Axcess TV Live (Alltel).
ESPN Mobile TV is not a simulcast of any existing ESPN network and is available through MobiTV and on MediaFLO USA’s mobile entertainment service.
