ESPN Mobile TV, Verizon Wireless and MediaFLO USA last week began airing live NBA games on the Verizon Wireless V CAST mobile TV service. The games’ availability is the result of a reported eight-year, $7.4 billion digital rights deal negotiated between ESPN and the NBA.
According to the “Wall Street Journal,” ESPN and the NBA ironed out the rights agreement in June. As part of the deal, ESPN can stream live NBA games through V CAST. It can also provide live and on-demand streaming of NBA games to ESPN.com, among its other multiplatform outlets.
Among the upcoming games scheduled to air on ESPN Mobile TV through V CAST are match-ups including the Miami Heat at the San Antonio Spurs on Nov. 7, the Cleveland Cavaliers at the Utah Jazz on Nov. 7, the Cleveland Cavaliers at the Sacramento Kings on Nov. 9 and the Detroit Pistons at the Los Angeles Lakers on Nov. 16.
Currently, the V CAST mobile TV service is available to more than 40 cities across the United States. Verizon Wireless uses MediaFLO USA’s FLO TV service to provide V CAST.
