The European Union ambassador to Brazil, Joao Pacheco said the organization was disappointed with Brazil's recent choice of the Japanese ISDB-T system as the basis for its terrestrial DTV system instead of DVB-T. Pacheco was quoted in an article on the Chinese Web site People's Daily Online saying that the European manufacturers of handsets had canceled investments in plants in Brazil since sets made for the Brazil/Japan DTV standard would not have a world scale market.
