Euphonix Sells 100th Console to "Lord of the Rings" Sound Unit
Euphonix recently sold its 99th and 100th System 5 consoles to The Film Unit Ltd. in New Zealand, the sound group that worked on the blockbuster film "The Lord of the Rings: The Fellowship of the Ring." The Film Unit used its current System 5-f film console to dub the movie, which was nominated for a Best Score Oscar.
The models are digital 96-kHz/24-bit consoles and will also be used for film mixing. The first console will be installed over the next few months to be used in combination with the existing console for mixing "The Lord of the Rings: The Two Towers," the sequel to "The Fellowship of the Ring." The second console will be installed in the premix theater.
