European, North American broadcast technology market remains strong

Broadcast and media technology suppliers in Europe and North America continue to improve their profitability despite a slowing of sales growth during recent months, according to the first quarter 2007 Industry Index published by the International Association of Broadcast Manufacturers (IABM).

The group of more than 60 broadcast and media technology suppliers tracked in the index represent more than $7.4 billion of sales during the last year, accounting for some 65 percent of the value of the global technology supply industry for the sector.

The annual growth in sales remains strong at 11 percent but is down from a high of just more than 16 percent in May 2006 — whereas the profit to sales ratio stood at 12 percent, its highest level since the index started a year ago.
