MTV Movie Awards 2007 tapped EVS’ XT2 servers to be the main playback source for content during the live broadcast in Hollywood June 3.
A total of eight XT2 servers provided continuous recording, editing, and playback for this year’s awards show, including four six-channel XT2s linked via IP Director that were used specifically for on-set screens and LEDs. During the show, EVS’ IP Director software allowed an operator to link and load multiple clips from 14 of the 24 available channels of the XT2s using only one action.
“With the IP director software running, one operator was able to organize and execute multiple clips with ease,” said Pete Rizzo, technical manager of MTV Networks. “I don’t know that we would have been able to manage the workflow without the IP Director.”
The other four XT2 servers were housed in the main TV truck, where two were used to record, edit, and replay packages directly into the live feed. The remaining two XT2s were used to produce bumpers for use during both the pre-show and the main event.
