Experimental Licenses Granted
The FCC has released a a list of experimental applications granted from May 1 to June 1, 2003. Three grants may be of interest to RF Report readers.
Hawaiian Electric Company was granted an experimental license WD2XDT to operate in the 1.7 to 30 MHz band for current carrier system tests in Honolulu and Kapolei, Hawaii.
Motorola was granted license WD2XDM for operation on all VHF and UHF TV channels for testing and demonstration of prototype equipment for digital television and public safety use. Fixed and mobile operation is authorized in Schaumburg, Ill., Redwood, Calif., Plantation, Fla. and Chicago.
Northrup Grumman is authorized to use 749.5 and 779.5 MHz for demonstrations of wireless Communications Services technology in Herndon, Va. under experimental license WD2XDM. These frequencies are inside TV channels 60 and 65, respectively. Neither channel is used for broadcasting in the Herndon or Washington, DC area.
