FCC Cites MRC for Selling Uncertified 4.9 GHz Equipment
The FCC released a Notice of Apparent Liability for Forfeiture (NAL) against Microwave Radio Communications LLC (MRC) for marketing uncertified 4.9 GHz aeronautical transmitting equipment.
The NAL said MRC acknowledged that it failed to obtain a grant of certification prior to marketing the equipment. MRC said that it immediately removed the marketing information from its Web site and ceased marketing the transmitting equipment until it received certification in April 2007.
The FCC considered this a willful and repeated violation of Section 302(b) of the Communications Act and Sections 2.803(a)(1) and 90.203 of the FCC Rules. MRC marketed one model of uncertified equipment. The FCC proposed a forfeiture amount of $7,000.
