FCC Grants Advanced Wireless Services Licenses
By TVTechnology
published The Wireless Telecommunications Bureau of the FCC granted 550 of the 1,087 licenses won in the Advanced Wireless Services auction completed Sept. 18.
The commission said the licenses can be used for wireless services and technologies, including voice, data, video and other wireless broadband services.
The granted licenses represent $12.2 billion of the $13.7 billion in total net high bids from Auction No. 66 and the $12.2 billion will nearly double the approximately $14 billion in total revenue sent to the U.S. Treasury from all previous FCC auctions combined.
The bureau is reviewing the remaining AWS license applications.
