FCC Grants Experimental Licenses for WiMax and WPAN Testing
Few of the experimental licenses granted from 5/1/06 to 6/1/06 involved frequencies used by TV broadcasters. Many of the grants were for licenses to test WiMax technology.
In the FCC Report 391: Experimental Actions, it listed that Intel received a license to use 3420-3440 MHz and 3520-3540 MHz for WiMax testing in Santa Clara, Calif. Neptuno Media was granted a license to use 3650-3700 MHz (adjacent to C-band downlinks) for testing WiMax equipment in Guaynabo, PR. Aeronet was granted a license to use the same frequencies for WiMax equipment testing in Sunnyvale, Calif. Motorola was authorized to use TV band frequencies 770-776 MHz and 800-806 MHz as well as 806-821 MHz and 851-866 MHz for testing and demonstrating new mobile equipment in Tomball, Texas. Eagle watchers may be interested to know that Hawkwatch International Inc. was granted a license WD2XXB to use 401.65 MHz to track eagles via the ARGOS satellite within the western United States.
