The largest category of grievances to the FCC dropped by more than 50 percent in the third quarter of 2004, from 272,958 in Q2 to 122,061 in Q3.
The agency attributes the drop to "the receipt of fewer e-mail or write-in campaigns" during that period.
In contrast, complaints about cable service rose from 169 to 266 and complaints about wireless services rose from 7,159 to 9,120 in the period.
