FCC refuses to extend deadline for new coordination rules
The FCC has denied the Society of Broadcast Engineers request to extend the deadline for new coordination rules by six months to allow broadcasters additional time to update license records in the Universal Licensing System (ULS).
Applications for new licenses or major license modifications in the aural BAS band above 944MHz and the TV BAS bands above 2450MHZ for fixed services must have a supplemental showing to demonstrate compliance with the new notification rules.
Applications filed only to add missing information don’t require frequency coordination and can be submitted without the supplemental showing.
The SBE is encouraging its Part 74 licensees to follow the new rules and include the supplemental showing to assist in making the ULS data base more accurate and complete.
