FCC to consider migratory bird rulemaking
During its open meeting on Friday, the FCC will consider a rulemaking proposal concerning the adoption of measures to mitigate the collisions of migratory birds with communications towers.
The FCC began to take a fresh look at the matter three years ago when it issued a Notice of Inquiry on the subject as part of its action plan to preserve the environment and historic sites.
Broadcasters building DTV towers, especially those in rural areas, have been impacted by the desire to minimize death and injury of migratory birds flying into transmission towers.
The commission is also scheduled to consider a Memorandum Opinion and Order regarding the transfer of control application of BellSouth and AT&T.
